IntenCity LED luminaires and technologies put light where it is needed to best conform with IES standards. Other technologies like HPS, MH, and fluorescent lighting, it is often difficult, if not impossible, to create lighting designs that so closely follows IES recommended practices, as well as maintaining low power density as an Intencity achieves in its parking garage installations.
High Pressure Sodium (HPS), Metal Halide (MH), and fluorescent technologies waste light due to sloppy optical systems that either do not put the light where it is needed, or do not control the light at all, thus wasting energy and money. In most traditional parking garage lighting designs with HPS, MH or fluorescent technologies, one can easily experience either high uniformity ratios, and over lighting, that wastes energy. Traditional lighting designs using HPS, MH or Fluorescent lighting with large power densities in the recent past was often the norm.
